Gold Miner Game Tips: Aim, Timing and Winning Tactics
Gold Miner is one of Playgridia's most addictive reflex games. In the competitive two-player version you take turns dropping your hook, and after 20 turns the highest score wins. Target choice and timing change everything — with the tips in this guide you can leave your opponent behind.
How to Control the Hook
The hook swings left and right across the top of the screen. To aim, drag your finger (or the mouse) to set the angle, and when you release the hook shoots in that direction. Timing is the key skill: release exactly when the swinging hook lines up with your target.
- Drag to aim: the angle isn't fixed, so follow the rhythm of the swing.
- Release early: for distant targets, let go slightly before the hook reaches the ideal angle.
- Don't waste shots: every missed turn matters — only fling when you're sure.
Which Target Should You Pick?
Every object has a different value and weight. To climb the score fast, prioritise the most efficient targets.
- Diamond: the highest points, and light enough to reel in quickly — never let one slip.
- Big gold: lots of points but heavy; the hook slows while pulling it, so watch the turn clock.
- Small gold and stones: light and fast; ideal for a guaranteed point when time is short.
- TNT: blows up and collects nearby objects; if two valuable targets sit side by side, grab both in one shot.
Heavy or Light? Manage the Clock
Heavy objects pay big but take long to retract and eat most of your turn. A balanced strategy is to go for one heavy target early in the turn and switch to fast-reeling light targets near the end. Using power-ups at the right moment matters too: line up a power-up that boosts reel speed or doubles value with your most expensive gold.
