规则
- 2–4 players; each round a 16-figure court is dealt and everyone holds one secret figure
- On your turn draw a figure (now 2), play one and resolve its scheme
- Spy (1): name a rival's figure — guess right and they're exposed (you can't name the Spy)
- Informant (2): secretly look at a rival's hand (only you see it — it stays in your memory)
- Duelist (3): secretly compare hands with a rival — the lower figure is out
- Sentinel (4): you can't be targeted until your next turn
- Inquisitor (5): a chosen player (you included) discards and draws anew — discarding the Queen knocks them out
- Chancellor (6): swap hands with a chosen rival
- Duchess (7): no effect, but you MUST play it if you also hold the Chancellor or Inquisitor
- Queen (8): the highest figure — but discard it for any reason and you're out, so keep it safe
- A round ends with the last courtier standing, or the highest figure when the deck runs dry — the winner earns a Favour
- First to the Favour target wins (Classic: 2p 7 · 3p 5 · 4p 4)
- If you disconnect, a bot plays your seat until you return
How to Play
- Each round everyone is dealt one secret figure (in a 2-player round, 3 figures are set face-up as clues)
- On your turn draw a figure, then play one of your two and resolve its effect
- Goal: be the last courtier in the round, or hold the highest figure when the deck runs dry
- The round winner earns one royal Favour; first to the Favour target wins the game
Figures & Schemes
- Spy(1) accuse · Informant(2) peek · Duelist(3) compare hands
- Sentinel(4) shield · Inquisitor(5) force a redraw · Chancellor(6) swap hands
- Duchess(7) is strong but forced alongside the Chancellor/Inquisitor · Queen(8) is highest but bust if discarded
- A Sentinel-shielded player can't be targeted; if nobody is a legal target the figure is played with no effect
Winning & Deduction
- Informant peeks and Duel reveals stay in your memory — track who holds what
- Aim the Spy at the figure with the most copies left; if you know a rival's figure, accuse it directly
- Keep the Queen (8) to the end — it wins the deck-empty showdown, but the Inquisitor can force it out
- Play the Sentinel to protect a big figure; play the Duelist while you're holding a high card
Online Court-Intrigue Card Game — Deduce, Bluff & Outlast
Royal Whispers is a 2–4 player court-intrigue deduction card game and a free, browser-based alternative to Love Letter. Hold a single secret figure, draw a second on your turn and play one to scheme against your rivals — accuse, peek, duel, shield, force a discard or trade hands. No download — play instantly against bots or friends.
Every figure you play is public, so the whole table is reading the same clues. Remember what the Informant showed you, what a duel revealed, and which figures have already fallen — then strike with a perfectly-timed Spy or Inquisitor to knock a rival out of the round.
Earn the Crown's Favour
Survive a round — as the last courtier standing or by holding the highest figure when the deck runs dry — and the monarch grants you a Favour. Rounds are quick and tense, and the highest figure, the Queen, is a prize you must protect: discard her for any reason and you're out.
First to the Favour target wins the game, so every round is a fresh gamble of memory, bluff and nerve. Choose Classic for a full season or Quick for a snappier race, add bots to fill the table, and see who becomes the favourite of the court.
