The game is played on a 12×12 board and is fully turn-based. The core rules are simple:
- On your turn you click a closed cell.
- If there's a mine under it, you score +1 and keep the turn — try to string mines together.
- If you open an empty cell, the turn passes to your opponent, but the revealed numbers give you clues.
- When the game ends, whoever found the most mines wins.
What the numbers mean, plus tips
The number on each empty cell you open shows how many of its 8 neighboring squares contain mines. This is the heart of the game:
- Use edges and corners: cells on the edge have fewer neighbors, so a number there is easier to solve.
- Compare numbers: by comparing two adjacent numbers you can pin down exactly which square hides a mine.
- Flag only when certain: a wrong guess ends your turn, so don't gamble on risky cells before you're sure.
The 3×3 bombing and bonus move
When the score gap reaches 5 or more, a special 3×3 bombing unlocks: you open nine squares at once in a single move. It gives the trailing player a chance to catch up and can be used once per game. You also earn an extra bonus move if your opponent opens an empty cell 3 times in a row — save that extra move for the riskiest area you've solved.
