Estates strategy tips — a Round 9 board with many owned city tiles and P1 and P2 ownership bars
Round 9: color monopolies forming as cities change hands.

Buy aggressively early

Cash sitting in your account earns nothing. In the opening rounds, snap up every unowned city you land on and push toward a full color group. A completed set unlocks building and heavier rent, turning early spending into a compounding advantage.

Lock in steady income

  • Airports and stations: owning several stacks their rent, giving you reliable income on tiles opponents can't avoid.
  • Utilities: the Electric and Water companies pay off when rivals roll high, a cheap hedge that keeps cash flowing.
  • Card tiles: Treasure and Surprise cards can swing a round; keep a buffer so a bad draw doesn't sink you.

Trade to complete sets

You rarely land on every tile of a color yourself. Offer a rival a spare city they need in exchange for the one that completes your monopoly. A trade that hands you a full set is almost always worth it, even if you overpay in cash.

Manage cash and close it out

Rent can spike fast, so never spend down to zero right before a lap past a rival's strongholds. Keep a survival cushion, then push for your win goal: be the last player standing after Bankruptcy, or hit the net-worth target of $6,000, $8,000 or $10,000.
