A letter is drawn and everyone writes a Name, a City, an Animal, a Plant and an Object at the same time. The first to finish calls STOP and the table gets 10 seconds. A listed answer passes at once, an unknown one is voted on by the table; a unique answer scores full, a shared one half. The pen-and-paper classic, 2–6 players, with bots and friends.
Sheet
Rules
- 2–6 players; every round a random LETTER is drawn (only letters the lists can serve — never Ğ in Turkish; a Korean room draws an initial consonant (초성) instead) and everyone fills five categories at the same time: Name, City, Animal, Plant, Object
- Writing time is 45/60/90 s (a room option); every answer must start with the letter
- The first to finish calls STOP: the table gets 10 seconds (can be switched off in the room); when everyone has finished the round closes at once
- A listed answer passes at once; an unlisted one is voted on by the table within 14 seconds — a tie counts for the answer; bots accept any sensible word that starts with the letter — the list is in the room's word language (a room option; it defaults to your interface language)
- Points: a unique valid answer 10, an answer shared with someone else 5, invalid or blank 0; the STOP caller gets +5 with at least 3 valid answers
- 3, 5 or 8 rounds; the highest total wins, a tie is a draw
- If your connection drops: at a two-player table your opponent wins the match (or carries on against a bot) unless you are back within 30 seconds; at a bigger table a bot plays your seat after 2 minutes and you take it back when you return
How to Play
- When the letter reel stops, fill the five boxes with words that start with it
- Enter jumps to the next box; call STOP once they are all full
- You see how many boxes your rivals filled, never what they wrote
- When time runs out or STOP is called, every sheet opens on the table
Points & Voting
- A unique valid answer 10, an answer someone else also wrote 5
- The table votes on unlisted words: 👍 passes, 👎 fails; a tie passes
- The STOP caller earns +5 with at least 3 valid answers on the sheet
- Avoid the word everyone will write: the unusual answer scores full
Name, City, Animal, Plant, Object — the Paper Classic Online
Categories is the free, 2–6 player browser version of the best-loved pen-and-paper game: a letter is drawn, everyone fills five categories with words starting with it at the same time, and whoever finishes the sheet first calls STOP. No download; play against bots or friends right away.
When time runs out the sheets open on the table. A listed answer passes at once; an unlisted answer is voted on within 14 seconds, with a tie counting for the answer. A unique valid answer scores 10, a shared one 5, and the STOP caller earns a 5-point bonus with at least three valid answers.
Rules, Clock and Room Options
The letter is drawn at random (only letters the lists can serve — never Ğ in Turkish; a Korean room draws an initial consonant (초성) instead) and never repeats within a match. Writing time is 45, 60 or 90 seconds; the STOP countdown can be switched off so the clock ends for everyone at once. Matches run 3, 5 or 8 rounds; the highest total wins.
Bots write from their own lists, call STOP when their sheet is full and accept any sensible word that starts with the letter in the vote; a hard bot cuts the table early, an easy one leaves its sheet half empty.
